Visitor Information

Located on the Firth of Forth, with the iconic Road and Rail Bridges to the East and the new Queensferry Crossing under construction to the West, Port Edgar Marina is an ideal base for exploring the Fife coastline, with it’s spectacular scenery, historic harbours and interesting islands.

We’re also home to Port Edgar Yacht Club which offers a fantastic programme of racing and cruising for yachts and dinghies. Ideally situated just 10 miles from Edinburgh city centre, you can be out of the office and on the water in 30 minutes!

The marina is only a short stroll from nearby South Queensferry where you can enjoy the local shops and restaurants along the picturesque cobbled high street.

Port Edgar has a naval history dating back to the nineteenth century and after WWII became a base for Royal Navy minesweepers clearing wartime minefields from the Firth of Forth. Much of the fabric of the naval base remains today, although the site was acquired and converted to use as a marina by Lothian Regional Council (now City of Edinburgh Council) in 1978.

Port Edgar marina offers nearly 300 serviced berths for boats of various sizes, outdoor hard standing and under cover storage, a laundry room, diesel fuelling facilities and toilet and shower facilities with lockers. There is a fixed crane on the end of the main pier for craning in boats up to 4.75 tons and stepping masts, and a newly installed Wise 25 ton slipway travel hoist for launching and recovering larger boats. The slipway is also available for public use.

Bosuns Locker provide a comprehensive range of services including new boat sales and brokerage, chandlery and dive shop and workshops for boat and engine repairs, service and parts.

The postcode for your sat nav is EH30 9SQ. Approaching Port Edgar from the East you will pass under the Forth Road Bridge along Shore Road. Port Edgar Marina lies on the south side of the Firth of Forth just west of the Road Bridge.

By Rail

Port Edgar is a 15 minute walk from Dalmeny Station

By Boat

Please contact the marina office by phone or VHF before arrival to be allocated a berth. Due to on-going dredging, the channels are not marked, so when entering and leaving the marina please ensure you stay mid channel through either of the entrances and maintain a parallel course to the breakwaters until you are well clear of the floating barrier.  The seaward end of the west breakwater is marked with a RED light Dir Fl.R.4s4m8M and the floating barrier is identified by three yellow lights 3xQ.Y during the hours of darkness. Within the marina keep close to the pontoon system as the surrounding areas dry to soft mud at low water.
