Why use Bosun's Locker to sell your boat?

A frequently asked question!  With the large number of internet sites now allowing you to advertise boats, many wonder why they should use a broker. The answer is simple - to sell your boat!

We advertise in major publications, as well as on the internet, where we are linked to all the major search engines. We have been selling boats for more than 25 years, and have established ourselves as a primary point of contact for many people looking to buy. Our location attracts a large number of visitors passing by, increasing the number of people who can view details of your boat. We may even have a buyer waiting in our 'Boats Wanted' file.

We are open 7 days a week, offer advice, especially to first time buyers. We can arrange Finance and take Credit & Debit cards, rapidly becoming the method of choice for boats up to £10K.

Finally - we take the hassle factor out of selling! We deal with the initial enquiries (and if your boat is here, with the viewing aspects as well), and all the ins and outs - you just sit back and wait for your cheque!

Notes For Sellers

  • Please ensure that you provide us with as much detail as possible on the attached information sheet. If you do not know details such as dates etc, give us an approximation. Any useful information you have that is not covered in the listing sheet, please include on another piece of paper

  • Please provide copies of any paperwork you have relating to the boat. In particular, survey reports, original invoices and bills of sale are very useful. Also, any photographs or sales literature you may have.

  • If possible, bring your boat to our sales yard at Port Edgar Marina. Customers come to us motivated to buy and best results are achieved when your boat can be viewed immediately. If our sales area is full, indoor and outdoor storage is available through the marina

  • Ensure your boat is properly presented for sale. Remove all personal items, stow sails out of the way and clean thoroughly both inside and out. If you are leaving your boat here, remember that it will still require ongoing maintenance. Please ask if you would like us to take care of regular cleaning while your boat is for sale

  • Ensure we have a contact number for you during the day and evening, and ideally also an email address

  • Please indicate your asking price, and if possible a lowest acceptable price. If you are unsure of your boat's value, please ask and we will be happy to offer advice.

  • If you move your boat from its present site, or withdraw her from sale, or make any alteration to the specification, please let us know immediately.
